AI Glossary
AI terms explained in plain English — with the practical details that matter when you are choosing models, hardware and software.
MCP
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard for connecting AI models and agents to tools, data and systems — the USB-C of AI integration.
Quantization
Quantization reduces the precision of a model’s weights (e.g. from 16-bit to 4-bit), shrinking its memory footprint with a small quality cost.
RAG
RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) grounds a model’s answers in retrieved documents instead of its training data — the standard pattern for private knowledge.
VRAM
VRAM (video RAM) is the GPU’s fast memory. For local AI it is the single most important spec: the model must fit in it.
